       Evangelist Shearline Melvin

Evangelist Shearline Melvin is a member of True Vine Baptist Church in Newport News, Virginia, where she serves as Women’s Ministry President and assistant to Pastor Irvin D. Melvin.  As a mentor to young women, Evangelist Melvin teaches and encourages them to seek God and His Word continually for strength and direction as they deal with daily life issues.

Evangelist Melvin answered God’s call to the gospel ministry in 1998 and received her license in 2000.  An ordained minister since 2004, she has been preaching and teaching in the local community and surrounding areas in obedience to the scripture found in Luke 4:18, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.”  God has directed her ministry to focus on women and their struggles to survive and thrive in a difficult world.  In addition to preaching at Women’s Day services, conferences and revivals, she is a frequent guest preacher and facilitator at the “Time Out” Women’s Ministry monthly sessions held at New Zion Baptist Church in Williamsburg, Virginia.

A native of Williamsburg, Virginia, Evangelist Melvin received an Associate in Arts degree in Biblical Studies from the Friendship Institute of Theology in Newport News, Virginia in 2006 and has earned credits toward a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology.  She has also completed coursework in English and Computer Science at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton, Virginia.

Evangelist Melvin is married to Pastor Irvin D. Melvin, pastor and founder of True Vine Baptist Church in Newport News, Virginia; and they have five children.
